Grant Dismissed From Team

by -

Junior wide receiver Kelvin Grant has been dismissed from the Clemson football team due to academic issues, according to head coach Tommy Bowden.

Grant is one of three academic casualties for the Clemson football team today. Tight end Bobby Williamson and defensive lineman Kwam Williams will not be eligible for the Champs Sports Bowl in Orland on Dec. 27. Williamson is a senior, so his career is over. Williams can work his way back into good academic standing in time for next season.

Grant has been out with a torn ACL since the Wednesday after the Wake Forest game in early October. He had struggled academically throughout his Clemson career, and Bowden said the decision was finally made to cut him loose.

Bowden said the school and football staff will work with Grant to help him transfer to another institution in hopes that he can finish his football career next season.
