The Clemson Tigers have more room on their commitment board after taking Valdosta (GA) defensive back off the board, perhaps temporarily, after the 5-foot-11, 175-pounder has decided to look at around at his other options just to make sure he has chosen the right school.

The Clemson coaching staff will remove Orta from their commitment board until he makes a firm decision
Orta committed to the Tigers a few weeks ago, but has since visited Miss. St., and he told TigerNet on Tuesday that he just wants to make sure that Clemson is still the right place.

“I am a soft verbal to Clemson, but this is the most important decision of my life,” Orta told TigerNet. “I want to make sure I weigh all of my options and make the best choice. I went to Miss. St. a couple of weeks ago, and I went to South Florida’s camp, and I think I want to go to Tennessee and Wake Forest in July. By seeing these other places, I can see what Clemson has to offer that is better than them.”

Orta said that he spoke with his recruiter of record, tight ends coach Danny Pearman, and he said his message to Pearman was fairly simple.

“I told him that really right now, I am not trying to focus on college, that I just want to focus on high school because our team has a chance to win the state championship,” Orta said. “I am really just worried about high school right now, and he told me that Clemson will always be there.”

Orta also spoke with his head coach, Randy McPherson.

“He told me I need to make the decision that is best for me,” Orta said. “He said I need to weigh my options and mull things over and make the right decision that is best for me. He told me to worry about Valdosta right now and worry about college and Clemson when the time comes.”

Orta recorded 61 solo tackles, 24 assists, four tackles for loss and notched six interceptions as a junior.
