Florida St. game brings out the stars |
Clemson’s matchup with ACC Atlantic division rival Florida State is sure to bring out the stars, but the most anticipated prospect may not even be a football recruit.
The football team will, of course, have plenty of talent on hand with several 2018 commits and prospects and younger prospects for the 2019 and 2020 cycles, but Brad Brownell and the basketball staff hope to host the No. 2 prospect in the country Saturday afternoon. Spartanburg Day (SC) standout Zion Williamson is expected to be on hand for an unofficial visit Saturday at the game along with Piedmont (SC) native Trey McGowens, who will be visiting for his official visit. The early signing period for basketball ends Wednesday, so the visit could go a long way in determining Williamson and McGowens’ futures. On the football front, the most intriguing prospect is 4-star Atlanta (GA) Carver safety Quindarious Monday, who is currently an Auburn commit. Monday’s last visit to Clemson was in June for head coach Dabo Swinney’s camp when he nearly committed, before pulling the trigger for Auburn. There’s a long way to go before National Signing Day and the battle between the Tigers could go the distance. 2019 4-star Loganville (GA) Grayson defensive end Kevin Harris will be making his first trip to Clemson since receiving an offer from the Tigers earlier this week. The offer immediately made an impact on Harris, and his relationship with former Grayson coach and defensive backs coach Mickey Conn have put Clemson at or near the top of his list. Clemson will also play host to a pair of Florida commits in 4-star wide receiver Maurice Goolsby out of Dunnellon (FL) and 3-star defensive tackle Jaquaze Sorrells out of Largo (FL). 4-star defensive lineman Curtis Fann out of Twin City (GA) Emanuel Institute, who has long been a fan of Clemson since receiving an offer from the Tigers during the summer, will also be on hand. As always remember recruiting visits are fluid and can change at the drop of the hat.
