Florida Kicker Interested in Clemson

C. J. Rhody Kicker/Punter Martin County High School (Stuart, FL) 6’1” 170 lbs., 4.7 (40) 13 of 18 Field Goals, long of 59 (2blocked at line, 2 bad snaps) 40 yard punt average, 30 punts (4 inside 10, 5 inside 20) Rhody started the season setting a school record with three field goals in one quarter. Since then he has set the county record for field goals in a season (13) and had three more games in which he kicked three field goals. He broke school and county records with a 57-yard field goal. He’s also had a 52-yard and a 32-yard game winner with 1.8 seconds remaining. Long time head coach of rival Centennial High Jim O’Neal was impressed by more than just Rhody‘s record after last week‘s game. “He’s a threat“, said O’Neal. “He’s the best kicker I’ve ever seen. I don’t think I’ve seen a high school kicker like him. He gets it up and it’s gone. He’s so impressive that any time they cross the 50 (yard line) they have the possibility of scoring”.

Rhody was extremely impressive at all three camps he attended this past summer, winning the competition at Georgia’s camp with a 64-yard kickoff, a 4.14 hang time punt, and a field goal long of 56 yards. He then made the trip over to Clemson where he kicked a 60-yarder but had to leave camp early before the competition. He rounded out the summer as the runner-up at North Carolina’s camp with a miss at 60 yards (off the ground). “I’m really interested in playing for an ACC or SEC team“, said Rhody. “I think the facilities at Clemson are top-notch. They have one of the best weight-training facilities. I’ve been a Clemson fan for years, my uncle played on the golf team here and my cousins have both attended Clemson, they all love the school.” Rhody carries a 3.52 GPA and is also being recruited by Penn State, Florida, Virginia, Harvard, and Georgetown.
