CLEMSON – On Sunday afternoon it was reported that Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney informed offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Billy Napier that he has been relieved of his offensive coordinator duties and running backs/special teams coach Andre Powell that he would be terminated. Immediately college recruiters across the country started contacting
Clemson commitments to see if the offensive shakeup could get them to change their decision.

However, TigerNet has spoken with many of the 2011 commits, and all say that the firings don’t affect their decision to attend Clemson.

Wren offensive lineman Shaq Anthony said that no one from the coaching staff had contacted him to inform him of the firings, but he had heard the news anyway. “I am still 100 percent committed to Clemson,” he said Sunday afternoon.

After learning of the firing of Coach Andre Powell (Running backs and Special teams) and Offensive Coordinator Billy Napier, TigerNet spoke with several of Clemson 2011 commitments.

Dorman WR Adam Humphries, Riverside DL Kevin Dodd, Mauldin OL Ryan Norton, TE Eric MacLain and Daniel DL DeShawn Williams all say they are still firm commitments, even though Williams did say that Powell was an excellent special teams coach and he hated to see him go.

Powell was responsible for Riverside DL Kevin Dodd, OL Isaiah Battle, Ryan Norton and Williams.

Napier was recruiting Chester QB Tony McNeal, QB Cole Stoudt, MacLain and RB Marlin Lane.

Lane’s message in a text to TigerNet was simple. “Committed. Juke.”
