’s season – marred by a shoulder injury – may not have gone exactly as planned but it couldn’t have ended any better.

The Spartanburg High School running back led his team to a 49-28 victory over York in the Class AAAA, Division 2 state championship Saturday afternoon at Williams-Brice Stadium, claiming the Vikings first state championship in nearly 10 years.

Despite missing several games with a nagging shoulder injury, Feaster carried the ball 107 times for 1,023 yards – a 9.6 yards per carry clip – and 15 touchdowns, but he told TigerNet Saturday evening that being healthy and able to help his team was something he prayed about for a long time.

“I went down for a couple weeks and I just kept my head in it,” Feaster told TigerNet. “I went home and I prayed every night just to get better. He gave me strength and helped me get healthy so we could win a championship.”

Not that a player needs extra motivation when a championship ring is on the line but Feaster said that York head coach Bobby Carroll’s comments earlier in the week made him give a little extra effort in Saturday’s game.

“My mindset and play the best that I can play,” Feaster said. “The fuel for today was that their coach wrote an article about me and he explained everything I did. I couldn't fault him for it because he was doing his homework but when he said that they were going to stop me, I didn't really take that too well. I had to come out with the mindset that I can't be stopped and I played like that all game long - for 48 minutes I just played my game. It was a great day.”

That extra motivation was just what the 4-star running back needed and Feaster accounted for 221 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in the Vikings’ win, but despite his personal accomplishments he said that he happy for his teammates and his community.

“It was definitely great to see my summer workouts, 7-on-7 and all of that pay off,” Feaster said. “It was amazing today. It was a wonderful feeling seeing what me and my teammates did for the community. It's been a decade since my school won a championship and we brought it back. It was a great feeling.”

With the season behind him, Feaster can once again turn his attention to recruiting and he said he is looking forward to catching up with Clemson’s new offensive coordinators – Jeff ScottJeff Scott

“I haven't really talked a lot to Coach Elliott and Coach Scott since Coach [ Chad MorrisChad Morris

] Morris left [to become the head coach at SMU],” he said. “I've just really been focused on the games. I haven't been talking to them this week. I'm sure we're going to catch up. They're both co-coordinators so I want to hear about it. I really don't know because we haven't talked about it.”

In addition to Clemson, Feaster has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida St., Georgia, Nebraska, North Carolina, Penn St. South Carolina, and Tennessee. However, the nation’s No. 2 running back according to ESPN and Scout says he isn’t ready to name any favorites.

“I'm just taking it day by day and week by week,” he said. “I really haven't made any top 10 yet. Clemson has been recruiting me the hardest since day one. Other schools have come in now and are recruiting me very hard, so it's very difficult at this point to say who my top teams are right now.”
