CLEMSON – Most official visitors won’t make their way to Clemson until later in the season – most likely for the North Carolina game at the end of September. However, there are a few high profile 2016 recruits that will be in attendance for the Tigers matchup with South Carolina St.

The No. 3 rated inside linebacker according to ESPN out of Roswell (GA) Tre Lamar will be in Clemson for the second time in just over a month. Lamar told TigerNet after his first trip in early August that Clemson was very high on his list and a return trip can only help the Tigers chances.

Lamar was also a visitor for Clemson’s loss at Georgia last weekend, but he doesn’t have a Georgia offer.

Saturday, he wants to see what Death Valley has to offer on game day.

"I'm looking for a feel for the environment on a game day and how the team plays at home,” Lamar told TigerNet Friday.

“I definitely like Coach Venables,” Lamar said. “I've liked him since I came down for junior day. I've got a pretty good relationship with him. I like his coaching style and how he goes about things. He has a very hands on approach and gets his point across.”

Lamar has offers from Alabama, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Miami (FL), Michigan State, Mississippi St., North Carolina, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin, among others. However, Clemson sticks out.

“They [Clemson] are definitely among the top that I'm looking at now,” Lamar said. “Right now, if I had to say a couple of schools that are recruiting me the hardest, it would be Clemson, Alabama, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt.”

Two other Georgia natives – Jonesboro (GA) teammates – Zerrick Cooper and Jordan Griffin will also be in attendance Saturday afternoon. Cooper – the four-star quarterback and No. 3 dual-threat prospect according to 247 attended Dabo SwinneyDabo Swinney

Griffin is a three-star cornerback prospect and will be making his first trip to Clemson. He has offers from Cincinnati, Clemson, Kentucky, N.C. State, Ole Miss and Wake Forest.

A pair of in-state wide receivers will also be in town – Bryan Edwards out of Conway and Jayson Hopper out of Lexington.

Edwards has offers from Clemson, South Carolina, Duke, Florida and North Carolina, but has been a long-time Clemson lean. Hopper, on the other hand, only has one offer from Appalachian State, but if room opens up could be considered a Clemson target after his performance and Swinney’s camp over the summer.
