One of the top corners in the nation for the 2017 recruiting cycle was in Clemson for Junior Day this past weekend, and the visit further reinforced his thoughts that the Tigers are the team to beat.

Four-star corner Jamyest Williams of Lawrenceville (GA) Archer made the trip to Clemson with good friend and 4-star prospect Devon Hunter of Chesapeake (VA) Indian River. The duo spent time with the Clemson coaching staff and spent time with the other 2017 prospects, and Williams told TigerNet Sunday that is was good to be back on the Clemson campus.

“It was great. We all got to talk. We all talked about seeing ourselves there,” Williams said. “We got to take a look and talk about Clemson and how it works and how Coach (Dabo) Swinney operates.”

The prospects even took part in a photo shoot that included Clemson uniforms, something that Williams said was a big hit with the players.

“It was a very cool experience. It was great that Coach Swinney let us do that,” he said. “It was a great bonding time. We all bonded and we got really excited because we could see ourselves there when we put on those uniforms.”

Williams has already taken unofficial to visits Georgia, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, Auburn, Florida State, Clemson, Tennessee and Michigan State. He boasts offers from all of the big-time programs nationally and is listed as the No. 44 overall prospect according to ESPN while Rivals has him at No. 117.

However, Clemson is still the leader and the weekend didn’t disprove that notion.

“Clemson is my top school,” he said. “It's really just about the love that Coach Swinney, Coach (Mike) Reed and Coach (Brent) Venables were showing. It was really just the whole coaching staff. They were showing a lot of love to everybody that was there, and that means a lot to recruits - how much love each school shows you.

“They tell me that I am a baller, and they want me to join the family. They think I will be a great fit there. Coach Reed says he sees me just like Mackensie (Alexander). When I get to college, I will have something to prove. If I go to Clemson, there will be some little things Coach Reed will have to coach in my technique. It would be just a matter of me going out there and proving myself. I still have a lot more to prove.”

His relationship with Reed – Clemson’s secondary coach – has also kept Clemson as his top school.

“We get along really well. He is cool,” Williams said of Reed. “We don't just talk about football. He is a like a friend that you can talk to about anything. He's as much a friend as he is a coach.”
