GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Atlantic Coast Conference announced
Monday that the Duke at Clemson and Georgia Tech at Florida State
football games cancelled this past Saturday, have been rescheduled for
Saturday, December 1, 2001.

"We looked at a number of different scenarios for both games,"
said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. "Because of academic
considerations, the Thanksgiving Holiday and the six Florida High School
Championship games being played in Florida State's Doak Campbell Stadium
on December 6-8, December 1st became the best date for both games."

The Duke at Clemson game will have a 1:00 p.m., start, while the
starting time for the Georgia Tech at Florida State contest is to be
determined.

All seven games scheduled for last Thursday and Saturday have
been rescheduled. The West Virginia at Maryland game will be played on
September 29, Northern Illinois at Wake Forest will be played on either
November 23 or 24, and the Ohio University at NC State contest has been
rescheduled for November 24. Penn State at Virginia, SMU at North
Carolina, Duke at Clemson and Georgia Tech at Florida State will all be
played on December 1.

This will be the latest Clemson has played a regular season
game since 1956 when the Tigers defeated Furman at Death Valley, 28-7
on December 1. It will be just the sixth regular season game in the
month of December in Clemson football history. The latest Clemson
has had a regular season game is December 8, a 1928 loss to The
Citadel in Charleston.

The change in schedule means that Duke and Clemson will meet
in the major sports of football and men's basketball on consecutive
days. The two schools will meet in men's basketball at Cameron
Indoor Stadium on December 2nd. That will be the earliest
conference basketball game for the Tigers since 1966. Clemson played
at North Carolina to open the 1966-67 season on December 1.

"I let the administration handle to schedule change with
Duke," said Clemson Head Coach Tommy Bowden. "I am preparing for
this week's game with Virginia, that is all I am concerned about. I
knew it would be scheduled at the end of the season. Our
administration knows what is best.'

Bowden said wide receiver Roscoe Crosby was back at practice
in a yellow jersey. He is questionable for this Saturday's game with
Virginia. Bernard Rambert was also in a yellow jersey as the result
of bout with a flu virus. He should return to practice later this
