GREENSBORO, NC -- On Sunday ACC weekly awards were announced and Clemson's Woodrow

Dantzler and Chad Carson both received honors for their play against the Citadel. Dantzler

was named offensive back of the week while Carson was named defensive lineman of the week.

ACC FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

OFFENSIVE BACK - Woodrow Dantzler, QB, Clemson

A 5-11, 190-pound junior out of Orangeburg, SC., Dantzler completed 16 of 17 passes for 192 yards and three touchdowns in leading Clemson to a 38-0 win over The Citadel. Dantzler played the first half and one possession in the second half, but still accumulated 236 yards of total offense. The three touchdowns were a career high.

OFFENSIVE LINE - James Wagstaff, OT, North Carolina

A 6-3, 348-pound senior from Charlotte, N.C., Wagstaff graded out at 89 percent in North Carolina's 30-9 win over Tulsa Saturday. Wagstaff had six knockdown blocks, one key block and one great effort in keying an offensive line effort that enabled the Tar Heels amass 415 yards of offense, including 173 yards rushing and 242 yards passing.

DEFENSIVE LINE - Chad Carson, ILB, Clemson

Carson, a 6-3, 235-pound junior from Newnan, Ga., had a career-high 18 tackles in only 41 plays from the line of scrimmage in the Tigers' 38-0 win over The Citadel. Included among his 18 tackles were a tackle for loss and a caused fumble.

DEFENSIVE BACK - Billy-Dee Greenwood, DB, North Carolina

A 6-2, 185-pound junior out of Norwalk, Conn., Greenwood was seemingly everywhere in the Tar Heels' 38-0 victory over Tulsa, leading team with 14 tackles, including three solo tackles and 11 assists. Greenwood also broke up two passes as the Tar Heels won their third-straight game.

SPECIALIST - John Stone, Wake Forest

In the Demon Deacons' season opener against Appalachian State, Stone, a 5-11, 180-pound junior from Somers Point, N.J., returned two kickoffs for 99 yards, including an 88-yard touchdown return in the first quarter. Stone's scoring return against the Mountaineers was the second in his career.

ROOKIE - Phillip Rivers, QB, NC State

NC State QB Phillip Rivers, the first true freshman in Wolfpack history to start at quarterback in a season opener, responded by setting school single game freshman records for attempts (57), completions (29) and yards (397) in the Wolfpack's 38-31 double overtime victory over visiting Arkansas State. The 6-5, 221-pounder from Athens, Ga., threw two touchdown passes and led the Wolfpack to a game-tying drive in the final minutes of regulation.
