Dan Scott Prediction: Clemson at Duke |
Well, we messed up last week by taking the "Show Me" approach at Maryland. Clemson showed me. Now it's off to Duke, where last time the Tigers showed up...Well, you know. CLEMSON AT DUKE WHEN CLEMSON HAS THE BALL Duke's defense is undersized and undermanned, so to compensate they gamble quite a bit. That leaves them vulnerable to big plays. With Clemson's offensive line finding its stride and Cullen Harper getting better every week, there should be big plays a-plenty. This is one week where losing Jacoby Ford won't matter. Much. ADVANTAGE - CLEMSON WHEN DUKE HAS THE BALL The Blue Devils have been able to put points on the board in bunches at times this year, but Vic Koening's defense is playing awfully well at the moment. It will be interesting to see how much time some of the young defensive linemen get this week, and if the Tigers can get pressure on the passer. ADVANTAGE - CLEMSON SPECIAL TEAMS Are things turning the corner here? Special teams were very good at Maryland last week. So I'll walk out on that industrial-strength limb here... ADVANTAGE - CLEMSON INTANGIBLES Clemson's struggles in Durham have been well documented. Somehow, though, I get the feeling the Ghosts of Wallace Wade Outdoor Stadium won't be a factor this time out. ADVANTAGE - CLEMSON BOTTOM LINE If the Tigers have truly recovered from their two-game hiccup, then this is a team they should drill. Says here they will. THE PICK Clemson 45, Duke 10
