Dan Scott Prediction: Clemson - Miami

QUARTERBACK

Charlie Whitehurst has been much better in recent weeks. But Miami's Brock Berlin has been on fire. Gotta go with the hot hand.

ADVANTAGE - Miami

RUNNING BACKS

Frank Gore's return has given Miami's running game something of a tough, mean streak. Reggie Merriweather is averaging 5.1 yards per carry, but only eight carries per game.

ADVANTAGE - Miami

WIDE RECEIVERS

After watching Louisville's offense work against the 'Canes, can't you see Airese Currie flying through the Miami secondary? Will he get any help this week? The Hurricanes are very talented here, with seven receivers in double figure catches.

ADVANTAGE - Miami

OFFENSIVE LINE

Clemson's last remaining unsettled spot continues to be the Nathan Bennett/Chip Myrick battle at guard. Miami has been hit hard by injuries.

ADVANTAGE - Even

RUN DEFENSE

A pair of units here which continue to give up too many yards. The team that holds the other's rushing game to less than 150 yards wins.

ADVANTAGE - Even

PASS DEFENSE

You have to love Clemson's secondary matched up vs. the Miami wideouts. Should be fun all night long.

ADVANTAGE - Clemson

SPECIAL TEAMS

Hester vs. Miller? That's the style. Jad Dean's kicking has been the substance.

ADVANTAGE - Clemson

THE PICK

After two really strong years of picking these games (16-4 in one 20-game stretch), we're leveled out at 4-4 so far this season. Several Clemson fans have urged me to continue the trend of the past two weeks and pick against the Tigers. Wise move, seeing as how Bowden's team won both times. So, your wish is my command.

Miami 27, Clemson 21
