Have you talked to your team about all the recent reports about you?

I do not talk to my team about job security one bit. Never have, never will. I’m sure they read the papers. They are not naïve and they talked to ya’ll (the media.)

Do you think everything that has happened this week will be a distraction to the team?

South Carolina always gets their attention. How much of a distraction it is I could not tell you. It’s not a normal occurrence.

What is the status of wide receivers Kelvin Grant and Airese Currie

The day we went out in pads they did not do anything. That is always scary. Airese has been out the last four or five weeks. He has missed a bunch of practices with either an ankle or the thigh. He would be a major concern on how he would respond in this game. Kelvin missed some earlier and of course did not practice much this week. Airese is a lot more experienced therefore can afford to miss it. Kelvin being younger can’t afford to miss as much. The fact they are both skill people it scares you a little bit because of the fine tuning between a quarterback and a receiver and the skill levels involved in throwing and catching.

Talk about Currie having a great year till he got injured.

He had a great summer and a great preseason. The first of the year was going really, really well for him. He was working hard and practicing hard and then the injuries started occurring. Then of course being a track guy those guys are real finicky. They are high maintenance and finely tuned. You know like those foreign sports cars. You can’t send them down to the local gas station to be worked on. You got to send them over seas. They are foreign cars. They are not American made. When he gets nicked up it is pretty substantial. I think he has done enough this year to at least get people’s attention. Then with a solid year next year I think he will have the potential to be something special.

What are your keys to the South Carolina game?

Number one would be defense. Our defense has to play at the level it has the last two weeks. Number two would be special teams and turnovers.
