Dan Scott: FSU vs Clemson Prediction

by - Correspondent -

There's nothing worse than a 10-year old with an attitude.

Such is life around my house now. Rebekah, my youngest daughter, made her prognosticating debut last week in place of her befuddled father, and was only brilliant. Given all the factors involved in the matchup with Duke, combined with her vast football knowledge, Becky picked Clemson to win by a 28-point margin.

The Tigers won by 29.

Needless to say, the child has been insufferable ever since.

However, I'm willing to put up with it because A) Her pick made people forget my mistakes; and B) No one dares badmouth a 10-year old girl, especially one with her dimples.

Call me what you wish, but I feel no shame in using the munchkin to deflect criticism. She wants the spotlight, she has to pay the piper like everyone else.

So to that end, it's time for Becky's pick on the Florida State game this weekend at Death Valley. And just for the record, the little diva didn't grant me the interview this week. She just made her pick and, in one quick flip of her hand, waved me aside.

Anyway, after filling her in on everything I thought her small brain could comprehend surrounding this game - history of the series, current trends, stats, color of the uniforms - she carefully considered the situation for a moment and then asked me one simple, yet telling, question.

"Can I ride the Indian guy's horse?"

Informed that no, the visiting Chief might not take to kindly to having his horse rustled by a 10-year old, Becky frowned and rolled her eyes.

"Then Clemson wins by a touchdown and a field goal," she said, walking away to tend to something more worthy of her time.

All I could do is shake my head and think (to myself, of course).

Just like her mother.

So there you have it. I stay retired another week and the kid tries to improve to 2-0.

We shall see if she gets a Week Three.

Becky sez Clemson by 10.
