“I told him I was ready to be a Tiger,” Cook told TigerNet shortly after committing. “I went into his [Swinney's] office with Coach Swinney and Coach [Brent] Venables. When I told Coach Swinney the news, he came around and gave me a hug.”

Cook was offered by the Tigers last month, and he chose Clemson over offers from Miami, USC, LSU and Florida State.

He told TigerNet he knew early on that Clemson is where he wanted to be.

“I knew before I came up here that I wanted to go to Clemson,” he said. “I have a really good relationship with the coaches, and I watched C.J. Spiller when I was growing up.”

He arrived on Clemson’s campus Tuesday afternoon with about a dozen of his Central teammates, and said being on the campus solidified his decision.

“I love it here,” he said. “This made it real for me. Just being on the campus and being around everybody let me know I made the right decision.”

Cook put up solid numbers for Central in 2011, rushing for over 900 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging over nine yards per carry in leading Central to the 6-A state championship game.
