Clemson's Jacoby Ford Named ACC Indoor Freshman of the Year

by -

Greensboro, NC - Clemson sprint standout Jacoby Ford was honored as the ACC Indoor Freshman of the Year, the league office has announced. The native of Royal Palm Beach, FL posted an ACC record in the 60m dash at 6.52 seconds. He won that event easily and also earned All-ACC honors by finishing third in the 200m dash.

He is the third Tiger to achieve Freshman of the Year honor. Ato Modibo won the first-ever Freshman of the Year honors in 2000, while current senior Adam Linkenauger won the honor in 2004.

Ford's time of 6.52 in the final is the fastest in the nation this year. A day earlier, he posted a time of 6.53 in the prelims. The previous school record was 6.55 by Michael Green. The ACC meet record was 6.56 by another former Clemson sprinter, Shawn Crawford.

Ford has automatically qualified and will be one of the favorites this weekend in the 60m dash. He will be joined by teammate Travis Padgett in the 60m field. The 60m prelims will be held Friday in Fayetteville, AR at 6:30 PM.
