*Clemson Head Coach Tommy Bowden issued two game balls after the game in the locker room. The first will be brought this evening to Javis Austin, who is in the Hospital in Anderson in stable condition. The second ball was given to assistant coach Brad Scott
*Rod Gardner set two Clemson single season records today. He had 6-138 receiving and two touchdowns. He now has 73-1009 receiving for the season. He broke Tony Home's record for receptions in a season (70 in 1997) and Perry Tuttle's single season mark for reception yards in a season. Tuttle had 915 in 1980. Obviously, Gardner is Clemson's first 1000 yard receiver in history, He became a 1000-yard receiver on the clinching touchdown in the fourth period. Gardner's two touchdown receptions were a career high, in fact he doubled his single season total entering the game. He now has four for his career. Gardner's 138 yards receiving were also a career high.
Gardner now has 101 career receptions, including the 73 this year. He is just the seventh player in Clemson history to reach 100 career receptions. He is only a junior.
*Clemson quarterback Woodrow Dantlzer had 266 yards of total offense today, 249 passing and 17 rushing. He concludes the regular season with 580 yards rushing, most by a Clemson quarterback since Steve Fuller rushed for 649 in 1978. Dantlzer went over 2000 yards of total offense for the season, he now has 2081. That is quite an accomplishment considering he played just 26 of the 44 quarters this year. He averages 230 yards per game, a Clemson single season record on a per game basis. His 2081 yards of total offense rank fifth best in Clemson history.
*Keith Adams continued his assault on the Clemson record books with four more tackles for loss and three sacks. He finishes the regular season with 33 tackles for loss and 16 sacks. The tackles for loss total is an ACC record, six more than any other player in league history. The sack total is second best in ACC history behind 19 by Peter Boulware three years ago for Florida State. He had 17 tackles off the stats in the press box, and that would give him 166 for the season. The Clemson single season record is 178 by Anthony Simmons in 1996.
*Clemson gained 425 yards of total offense today and now averages 403.6 for the regular season. This is only the third season in Clemson history that Clemson has averaged at least 400 yards per game, the first since 1991 when Clemson averaged 404 yards per game.
*Clemson had six sacks in today's game. The Tigers now have 46 sacks for the season, tying the Clemson single season record. Clemson's 1992 and 1996 teams also had 46 sacks.
*Travis Zachery had 105 yards rushing today. It was his third 100-yard game of the season. He also scored two touchdowns today, giving him 16 for the season, the second highest single season total in school history. The only total higher is 17 by Lester Brown in 1978.
*Clemson concludes the regular season with six Division I wins, three times as many as it bad last season.
*This is the third time this year Clemson has scored exactly 31 points. Clemson scored 31 against North Carolina, NC State and now South Carolina. Virginia Tech scored 31 in defeating Clemson in the third game of the season.
*This is the fourth time this year Clemson had a 100-yard rusher and a 100-yard receiver in the same game. No Clemson team in history had done it more than twice in a season. Clemson had a 100-yard rusher and 100-yard receiver against North Carolina, Maryland, Duke and now South Carolina.
