Clemson season ticket sales surprisingly strong

by - Senior Writer -
Clemson has sold right at 50,000 season tickets as of Wednesday.

CLEMSON – A recent surge in season ticket packages have the Clemson Tigers almost back to where they were at the end of last season, according to Travis Furbee, who heads up the athletic ticket office.

Season tickets and parking passes will be mailed out the week of August 8th, and Furbee told TigerNet that July and this first week of August has been good for season ticket sales.

“They are doing pretty good,” Furbee said. “We have actually sold more season tickets than usual for the month of July and August. We are almost back to where we were last year – we are just a little bit down. We are down two percent, which is just under 1000 less than the end of last year. We are right at 50,000 season tickets as of today.”

Early-season home games against Auburn and Florida St. have also contributed to a surge in single game ticket sales.

“We have been very happy with the results of the single game tickets,” he said. “Auburn and FSU are obviously big sellers, and we have already sold more Florida St. tickets than we did when they were here two years ago. And then we have the big seller in North Carolina, and Boston College is homecoming, so they are both selling really well as well.”

The ticket office suspended ticket sales for the Auburn game and has since seen a spike in season ticket sales.

“We offered them exclusively to IPTAY donor as single game tickets,” Furbee said. “We usually hold blocks of tickets to sell during the month of July and August, and we have seen that spike in season ticket packages. We have been selling 200 or 300 a week for the past three or four weeks. Obviously, we are still not done selling season tickets, because if we get a few more we are going to be really close to where we were at the finish of last season.”

The school has already sold its 4300-ticket allotment for the October 1st Virginia Tech game at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, and other road games are also selling well.

Furbee said that the implementation of digital tickets – allowing customers to print the tickets out at home or at work – has been a success.

“Of course, not all of the tickets are digital tickets,” he said. “All of the season tickets still get that nice picture on the hard tickets. The digital tickets is helpful, however, if a season ticket holder transfers a ticket to a friend or family member. And then the single game tickets are available to be printed at home, and 80% of those sales have been printed, so that is a good sign.”
