Clemson football tickets in high demand |
CLEMSON – The home portion of the 2011 football schedule has been completed, so any chance that Clemson fans have to see their team in action in person means they will have to take to the road.
The Tigers have two regular season games left – at N.C. State this weekend and at South Carolina next weekend – plus the ACC Championship Game in Charlotte the first weekend in December. The bowl site has yet to be determined. As a result of Clemson’s 9- 1 record and No. 7 national-ranking, the Clemson allotment for the N.C. State game is sold out. “I have heard that the N.C. State ticket office has one or two hundred left, but that might be about it,” said Travis Furbee, the Assistant Athletic Director of Ticket Operations for the Clemson University Athletic Department. “We had 4300 tickets for that game and they went pretty quick. For the South Carolina game we had 10,000 in our allotment so we lowered the IPTAY point total to 75. They should be gone in the next day or two, and students are buying them now, too.” The ACC Championship allows for each participating school to receive 10,000 tickets each, and they let the remaining 51,000 go on sale to the public. That portion was sold out two weeks ago, and Furbee said that his office has received over 20,000 requests for tickets. “We didn’t pass 10,000 requests until we beat Wake Forest,” he said. “But we have ended up with about 20,000 ticket requests and we are working all of the numbers right now. Out of the 51,000, I am sure there are a good number of corporate sponsors mixed in. Clemson fans have obviously been buying them for over a month now, so we should have a good presence up there.” Furbee said the goal for his office at this point is to try and make sure the largest numbers of requests are filled. “The goal of taking the ticket requests is trying to accommodate as many IPTAY members as we can,” he said. “We are trying to set a limit as far as IPTAY points and spread it as far as we can.
