Clemson football coaches compensation for 2010 |
Statement from Clemson Athletic Director Terry Don Phillips
“We were pleased with the performance of the Clemson football program under Dabo Swinney this past season and feel the new salaries reflect these accomplishments, and give our program the opportunity to reach higher goals in the future. We won the ACC Atlantic Division Championship for the first time, finished in the top 25 of the Associated Press Poll, and the program is in good shape in all other phases, most importantly, academics. “During the offseason a number of our coaches were pursued by prominent programs in other conferences. We feel it is important to have continuity within the staff. When Clemson won three straight ACC Championships from 1986-88, we had the same coaching staff all three years. When Florida State was among the top programs in the nation in the 1990s, it had consistency within its staff. “The overall compensation for our coaching staff is well within the upper tier in the ACC.” Statement from Head Coach Dabo Swinney on today’s release of staff contract terms. “I am very appreciative of the support we have received from our administration. We have created an environment where we can attract outstanding coaches to Clemson University and keep them here. It is important in our ability to remain competitive and challenge for championships as we go forward. These contracts give our staff security." Below is a chart that gives the new salaries and length of contracts for Clemson’s football full time coaching staff. These figures were approved by the Clemson Board of Trustees Compensation Committee on Monday.
