Clemson Signee Looking to Play Early at Receiver |
La' Dontae Harris Athlete Litchfield High School 6'0", 180 pounds.
There are some high school seniors who dread getting labeled as an "athlete" by college coaches. Often times, it means that the position they played in high school isn't the same one they will play in college. For La' Dontae Harris, however, there may not be a better way to define him. After a strong senior campaign on the football field, Harris led Litchfield High's basketball to the Final Four, averaging 22 points. On June 5th, he will participate in the Mississippi/Alabama all-star football game. "I have been running and playing basketball just about every day since the football season ended," Harris said. "I would like to grow a little bit more and put on some weight, but the coaches told me not to worry about that. They said they will have no problem putting weight on me." Harris has already qualified academically, but will report to Clemson on June 30th to take a one hour class, which he said will help him get a feel for the college atmosphere. "I can't wait to get there," Harris said. "The coaches have told me that I will be number 26. I have always worn number one, but if I have a good season wearing number 26, I must just stick with it." "I think we are going to have a great season. I have been told that they are expecting to freshmen to come in and start playing right away at wide receiver. Hopefully, I will be one of those two."
