Notes

- On practice this week - “We tried to be smart with them all week from a rep standpoint. Really they have been a business like group. I like how they practiced. We got a lot of mental preparation to do between now and game day. “

“We are excited about Tigerama and homecoming and all that and hopefully playing our best game. That’s really all we are trying to do this weekend.”

- On Kickoffs – “We will probably start Cat [Chandler Catanzaro]. We are probably going to kick both of them to be honest with you. We’d like to kick both just to experiment a little in a game situation. We probably start Cat. He’s been more accurate as far as putting the ball where we want it. Dawson [Zimmerman] has a little stronger leg, but he’s been a little less accurate and that can create some issues. I’d like to work it out where we can get them both some opportunities, but we got to score some points to be able to do that. Dawson will hold and Cat will also be our back up punter.”

- On Ellington’s hamstring and his play – “He’s good. He practiced really well yesterday and today. On that interception [against VT] he got a little thigh bruise that he had to work through Monday and Tuesday where Tajh [Boyd] dove and came right into him, trying to make the tackle. He looks good. He’s back close to 100%. He’s too good of a player to keep down so at some point he’s going to make his presence known. He did very well in the Wofford game and then in the Auburn game he got hurt – his hamstring. I thought he played really good in the Florida State game as far as just gutting it out and getting us some critical plays. Last week was tough sledding for everybody. He’s due. He’s due for a big one."

- Swinney said Brandon Thomas is still the starter at left guard. David Smith will be No. 2 at left guard. Swinney said he hopes that Smith and Mason Cloy will get a little more work this week. Cloy will probably also see some time at center.

- On Peake and his injury - “Peake is better. He’s a guy we have got to get going. He and Adam [Humphries] are really good players. They practice great. We’ve played five games now and I trust them. So I think you will continue to see those guys worked in a little more. We really need them to just help keep us fresh. Peake is a guy we have got to get going and I think he is about ready for a little bigger role. He had a little AC sprain [shoulder] and that had limited him a little in practice the last few weeks. Last couple weeks he has had to wear green most of the time. But he has pretty much got his range of motion back. We are really excited about all those guys, but the way he and Humphries practice you just have a lot of confidence those guys are ready to play in whatever role.”

- The tombstone has been ordered for the Virginia Tech game win, but Dabo wants to come up with something a little special in West End Zone as an acknowledgement of winning 3 consecutive games over teams ranked in both polls for the first time in ACC history.
