ATLANTA (Dec. 4, 2007) - Fewer than 48 hours after the Chick-fil-A Bowl's selection of #15 Clemson and #22 Auburn for its 40th annual bowl, officials have declared the game a complete sellout.

This is the Chick-fil-A Bowl's 11th consecutive sellout and a continuation of the Bowl's distinction as the highest-attended non-BCS bowl game in the country over the last decade. Only the Rose and Fiesta Bowls have longer sellout streaks.

"I'm not sure if I can remember a game where both teams sold through their ticket allotments so quickly," said Gary Stokan, Chick-fil-A Bowl president. "I probably should've had a stopwatch handy."

"These are two sets of passionate fans, and there is no doubt the atmosphere in the Georgia Dome will be electric on New Year's Eve," Stokan added.

In 2006, the Virginia Tech match-up with Georgia set the all-time Georgia Dome attendance mark at 75,406 - a figure that surpassed the previous record of 75,125 set by the Chick-fil-A Bowl between Clemson and Tennessee in 2004.

"All indications are that we'll make a run at that milestone again this year," Stokan said.

The 2007 Chick-fil-A Bowl will be played Dec. 31 at 7:30 p.m. (EST) and will be nationally televised by ESPN.

The Chick-fil-A Bowl is the longest-running rivalry series of top-ranked teams from the ACC and SEC and is recognized as one of the most competitive bowl games in college football. The Chick-fil-A Bowl owns exclusive rights to the first selection in the ACC - after the BCS - and will set records this year with its 11th straight sellout and an all-time high $5.83 million in total team payout. The Chick-fil-A Bowl is the highest-attended non-BCS game in the country and leads all bowl games in charitable and scholarship contributions.
