ATLANTA - Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl officials will travel to Columbia for Saturday’s interstate battle between the Clemson Tigers and the South Carolina Gamecocks at Williams-Brice Stadium.

Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Team Selection Committee members Bill Flynn and Mike Hammer will scout the teams as potential representatives in the 2001 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. The ACC team selected for the 34th edition of the Bowl will be announced Dec. 1. The SEC representative will be named Dec. 9.

Clemson (3-4, 5-4), tied for sixth in the ACC, most recently appeared in the 1999 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. No. 23 South Carolina (5-3, 7-3) is third in the SEC East and is seeking its second straight postseason bowl berth. The Gamecocks’ only appearance in the Peach Bowl came in 1969, a 14-3 loss to West Virginia in the second annual game.

The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl is the only guaranteed ACC vs. SEC match-up and is recognized as the most competitive bowl game in history with an average margin of victory of 8.8 points. The 2001 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl will be played 7:30 p.m., Dec. 31 in the Georgia Dome and will be nationally televised on ESPN. For more information visit www.chick-fil-apeachbowl.com.
