Carson, Young Make Academic All-Region For Third Straight Season

Winter Park, FL--Clemson seniors Kyle Young and Chad Carson were both named to the Verizon Academic All-District team for 2001. It marks the third straight year both players have been named. Both will now be considered for the Academic All-America team. Young has been a first team selection each of the last two years and Carson was a second team choice in 1999, then a first-team choice in 2000. The Clemson players are two of the five players on this year's All-District team that were chosen All-District for the third straight year. The others are Eric Nash of Wofford, Dan Dyke from Georgia Tech, and Chris Hope of Florida State. District III is made up of all Division I and I-AA schools in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. To be eligible a player must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 in the classroom and be a starter or key reserve on the field. Both Carson and Young have career GPAs above 3.90. The Academic All-America team will be announced December 13th.
