Carson Named ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week

OFFENSIVE BACK - Talman Gardner, WR, Florida State

Talman Gardner, a 6-2 205-pound junior from New Orleans, La. had a

career day in a 52-31 win over No. 10 Maryland Saturday. Gardner caught

six passes for 140 yards and scored three touchdowns, scoring on passes

of 28, 16 and nine yards. Gardner also had a career-high 57-yard

reception as the Seminoles totaled a season-high 363 passing yards.



OFFENSIVE LINEMAN - Mike Hart, TE, Duke

Duke's Mike Hart, a 6-6, 245-pound senior from Sayville, N.Y. helped the

Blue Devils accumulate a season-high 537 yards of total offense in a

42-28 loss to Vanderbilt. Hart caught four passes for 86 yards

including a 31-yard reception for a touchdown and a two-point conversion

and extended his string of consecutive games with at least one pass

reception to 20 while recording eight knockdown blocks against the

Commodores.



DEFENSIVE LINEMAN - Chad Carson, LB, Clemson

Clemson's Chad Carson a senior Newnan Ga., recorded 23 tackles in the

Tigers 21-14 win over Wake Forest Saturday. The 23 tackles are

third-highest single-game total in Clemson history with only Keith

Adams' 27 tackles against South Carolina in 1999 and Jeff Davis' 24

stops against North

Carolina in 1980 are higher. Carson also had his first career

interception with just six minutes left in the game.



DEFENSIVE BACK - Michael Boulware, OLB, Florida State

Michael Boulware, a 6-3, 225-pound sophomore linebacker, recorded a

career-high 11 tackles, including seven solo stops in Florida State's

52-31 win over Maryland. The Columbia, S.C., product also had a 23-yard

interception return for a touchdown against the Terps.



SPECIALIST -- Brooks Barnard, P, Maryland

Brooks Barnard, a junior from Arnold, Md., had six punts for a 47.3 yard

average in a 52-31 loss at Florida State. Barnard improved his season

average to 44.9 yards per punt, fifth-best in the nation. Barnard had a

53-yard punt in the first half



ROOKIE - Chris Rix, QB, Florida State

Chris Rix a 6-4, 215-pound freshman from Santa Margarita, Calif., threw

for a career-high 350 yards on 15-of-24 passing in a 52-31 win over

Maryland. Rix tossed five touchdown passes, also a career-high, which

was one shy of the school record. Three of Rix's scoring strikes came

in the fourth quarter.
