On the offensive line:

“We lost some interior guys, but we have exterior guys back in Brantley and Byrd and even William Henry and Nate Gillespie. We feel pretty good about those four guys at tackle. Interior is where we got question marks. “

Cedric Johnson’s health:

“If he’s not a 100% he will be close to it”

Chip Myrick getting into the mix:

“Yeah we kind of recruited him as a center. We redshirted him and he has got a little bigger. He’s still about 250 to 255. We like the way he moves. He got a good work ethic. We look forward to seeing what he can do this spring.”

On the quarterback situation:

“It will be Willie’s job to lose. Both quarterbacks have worked hard. Whitehurst’s background is one to compete. His father had a pretty successful athletic career. He will compete for it.”

On position changes:

"There might be a couple of things to materialize this weekend,

but I don't want to comment on them till maybe Thursday or Friday."

On Kevin Youngblood and Altroy Bodrick’s health:

“Youngblood should be 100% or close to it. I don’t know if Bodrick will be 100%, but he should be close. He’s a fifth year senior so I don’t know if he will do a lot of the scrimmage work, but he will do a lot of the other drills."

Offensive changes with the loss of Woody Dantzler:

“We just will not have as many quarterback runs. With Woody we had a bunch of quarterback / tailback runs. We’ll still have some, just not as many. The burden will go back to the tailback and the running backs."

New defensive alignments under new defensive coordinator Lovett:

“I think he wants to look at our personnel in the spring and do some experimenting and come out of spring with an answer on that. “

Spring practice will be a physical one?

“It needs to be, but you have to be careful you don’t shoot yourself in the foot. You got a young guy you would like to see make improvements all through the spring and then you beat him up in the third day, and he is out for the spring and you hadn’t improved yourself. There is a smart way you have to do it. It’s still a contact game and a contact sport.”

On an announcement if Marcus Houskins will play this year:

“I’d say it could be any time soon, and they may have already done it. I know he is not going through spring. As far as an official announcement we really haven’t pushed for one yet.”

Any players not coming back that could have come back?

Marvis Jenkins a walk-on and Joe Don Reames.

Roscoe Crosby in Spring practice?

"He will have do some limited work this spring, but the Kansas City Royals got a bunch of money invested in him, and we are going make sure he has every opportunity to pursue that avenue. So he will be out there on a limited basis, but a lot of his preparation now will be for baseball and some football.”
