Bellamy still solid with Clemson |
Mike Bellamy’s high school coach told TigerNet late Sunday night that Bellamy is aware of the news swirling around the Clemson program right now, but is still very much wanting to be a Clemson Tiger.
Bellamy is the No. 2-rated running back in the nation according to Rivals.com, and is the 14th-best player overall regardless of position. The 5-10, 185-pounder committed to Clemson back in June. Bellamy’s high school coach at Charlotte, Binky Waldrop, is at the fourth-annual Under Armour All-America Game in Orlando, Fla., with Bellamy, and said he heard the news Sunday afternoon. After talking with Bellamy, he is convinced the running back is still “solid” with Clemson. “He is still solid,” Waldrop said. “At this point, I think he wants to wait and see who is hired. Someone who is close to the situation called me, and I told Mike. He is fine, and to him right now it’s not that big of a deal.” Waldrop said Bellamy is having fun at the All-America game, and trusts Swinney to make the right hire. “He is solid where he is at right now,” Waldrop said. “He thinks Coach Swinney will do a good job of getting the right person in there.”
