Ardley Dismissed from Clemson Team |
Clemson, SC -- All-ACC cornerback Alex Ardley has been dismissed from the
Clemson football team, Head Coach Tommy Bowden announced Thursday. "I have dismissed Alex Ardley from our football team for breaking team rules," Bowden said. Bowden spoke with Ardley Thursday afternoon and informed him of the decision. Ardley led the ACC in interceptions this season with six and ranked eighth in the nation in that area, the second straight year he ranked in the top 20 in the country. He tied a Clemson record for interceptions in a game with three against Maryland this year. He concludes his Clemson career with 12, tied for fourth in school history. The native of Tallahassee, FL started 35 consecutive games for the Tigers at cornerback, the only cornerback in Clemson history to start every game as a freshman, sophomore and junior. He finished his career with 26 passes broken up and 38 total passes defensed, among the top five totals in school history. He had two tackles in the Gator Bowl, giving him 62 for the season and 194 for his career. Jason LeMay, a tight end who played in four games this past season, has decided to transfer. LeMay earned a letter in 1999 as a reserve. He caught a two-point conversion in the game at Virginia Tech that season.
