GREENSBORO, NC -- Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John Swofford announced Wednesday that the 2007 Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game, scheduled to be held at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium (formally Alltel Stadium) in Jacksonville, Fla., on Saturday, December 1, will have a 1 pm (EST) kickoff and will be nationally televised by ESPN on ABC Sports.

?We are pleased to announce this year?s ACC Football Championship Game will be televised nationally at 1 pm,? said Swofford. ?Our first two championship games featured four different conference teams, and as our 12 league programs prepare for the upcoming 2007 season we know a common goal for each is to be playing on December 1 in Jacksonville.?

The afternoon kickoff is the second straight for the ACC?s championship contest, and its third straight national appearance on ABC. Both previous games have been played at Jacksonville?s Alltel Stadium.

The inaugural Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game in 2005 had an 8 pm kickoff, with Florida State taking a 27-22 decision from Virginia Tech.

Last year, the ACC?s second gridiron championship game had a 1 pm start with Wake Forest claiming a 9-6 triumph over Georgia Tech.

Ticket and event information for this year?s Dr Pepper ACC Championship Football Game may be obtained by accessing the ACC?s official website at theacc.com or by calling the Gator Bowl Association at 800.374.BOWL.
