ACC Announces 2002 Football Television Schedule

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The 2002 Atlantic Coast Conference football television schedule was released today by ACC Commissioner John Swofford. NC State brings up the curtain on the league’s 50th Anniversary television schedule when the Wolfpack host New Mexico in the Black Coaches Association (BCA) Classic at 4:30 p.m., on Saturday, August 24. Later that day, Florida State travels to Kansas City to take on Iowa State in the Eddie Robinson Classic at 8:00 p.m. Following the games of September 21, all televised games not listed below, will be announced 12-days in advance.

The ACC will make an appearance on ESPN’s Saturday night prime time game of the week for the first three weeks of the regular season – August 31 Clemson at Georgia, September 7 South Carolina at Virginia, September 14 Florida State at Maryland. Additionally, the ACC will participate in four primetime Thursday night games on ESPN – September 26 Florida State at Louisville, October 3 Clemson at Florida State, October 17 – Georgia Tech at Maryland, October 24 NC State at Clemson. In addition, three national ABC telecast are scheduled – August 31 Maryland vs. Notre Dame in the Kickoff Classic, October 12 Florida State at Miami, October 26 Notre Dame at Florida State. The Texas at North Carolina game (Sept. 14) and Florida at Florida State (Nov. 30) are split-national telecasts.
