However, knowing that he still had yet to even play his junior season in high school, Kendrick Holland decided the prudent course of action would be to wait just a little longer.

Holland, out of Winter Haven, Fla., is a 6-4, 175-pounder who says he fell in love with the Tigers while watching Sammy WatkinsSammy Watkins

“I really didn’t know a lot about them until last year,” Holland told TigerNet this week. “But then I started seeing Sammy Watkins, and that got me looking at them. I didn’t have any clue that they would offer me until Coach [Tony] Elliott showed up at my school and told my coaches I had an offer. That was like a dream come true. I see Sammy Watkins in that offense, and I want to be something special like he is.”

Holland said that he had a great time on the campus and during the camp.

“The camp was very good,” he said. “It’s actually one of the best camps I have ever been to. I liked it a lot. I knew the coaching I was getting was going to make me a better player.”

He also enjoyed working with wide receivers coach Jeff Scott.

“He was a really good guy. He told me what I was doing wrong,” he said. “If I was to choose Clemson, then I would look forward to working with him.”

It was that relationship and his time on campus that led him to think he was ready to make a decision.

“I really like the atmosphere there. I feel like it would be a great place to live,” he said. “I enjoyed everything so much I was ready to commit. But I got to thinking about it, and I realized that right now is just too early. Now I will probably wait until my senior year, or maybe even as early as my junior year. Clemson is a beautiful place – one of the best campuses I have ever seen. Coach Elliott took me on a tour all around.”

Holland said another highlight was getting to spend time with both Swinney and offensive coordinator Chad Morris.

“Coach Swinney seemed really cool, and a good person to get to know,” he said. “I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with him, but he seemed like a good person. And Coach Morris is a good person – one of the best people I have ever met. He told me he would help me with anything.”
