WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Utilizing their bench and twenty Tiger turnovers
Wake Forest (13-10, 4-6) ended a recent slump with a 79-63
victory over the Clemson Tigers (8-15, 2-8). The Tigers were looking
to climb out of the ACC cellar, but seemed sluggish
perhaps due to only having one day of preparation since their loss to
North Carolina on Sunday.

"We did not play with the legs and or the animation and the emotion we
had the other night (against North Carolina)," said Head Coach Larry Shyatt. "
But I credit Wake with some of that. Every time we play them
we are made to look inferior offensively. They battle for space and
they take space away from us so well inside."

Darius Songalia (16 pts), reserve Craig Dawson (13 pts), and reserve
Josh Shoemaker (10 pts) led the Demon Deacons. The Deacon bench
outscored the Tigers 34-11.

Will Solomon led the Tigers offensively with 29 points. Ed Scott added 11 more.

"I thought Ed Scott and Will Solomon were excellent. We had a never say die attitude," said Shyatt.

The Tiger trailed throughout the game but closed the gap to seven with a
10-2 run in the second half. Will Solomon fouled Robert O'Kelley, giving
him the opportunity to make three
foul shots successfully. Dawson added two to re-ignite the
Deacons and put away the Tigers to give Wake Forest their
10th succesive home field win against Clemson.

Clemson committed a team total 27 fouls leading to 33 points on 40 attempts
from the foul line for Wake Forest. "We fouled excessively. I’m very displeased with the
fact we fouled excessively," added Shyatt.

The Tigers will host Florida State at 12:00 Saturday in Littlejohn
Coliseum. "We have got to put it together. We still can win games in
this conference this year and we can still be the hot team at the end of
year in the tournament," said Shyatt.
