Two Basketball Players Named To ACC All-Academic Team

CLEMSON, SC - Two members of the Clemson men's basketball team were named to the 2003-04 ACC All-Academic team, as announced by the conference office. Akin Akingbala and Shawan Robinson are joined by

12 other Atlantic Coast Conference men's basketball players on this year's edition of the team. The selected student-athletes were required to have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

This is Robinson's second consecutive Academic All-ACC honor, and is only the eighth Tiger basketball player to make the team twice. The junior from Raleigh, NC, completed his sophomore season as the Tigers' second-leading scorer, averaging 10.8 points per game. He ranks sixth in Clemson history in three-point field goal percentage, having made 71-174 three-point attempts for a .408 percentage.

Robinson, an elementary education major was selected to the team after posting a 3.10 for the 2003-04 academic year.

Akingbala returns for his junior season after averaging 4.8 points per game and 4.6 rebounds per game in 2003-04. He also led the team in field goal percentage, making 57-94 shots for a .606 figure. The native of Lagos, Nigeria, recorded a 3.0 GPA for the 2003-04 academic year and is majoring in business.
