MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – For the second time in three days the Tigers fell behind early only to claw their way back to victory. Saturday Clemson (9-4) trailed 37-19 to Coastal Carolina, but Will Solomon’s 19 points in the second half lifted the Tigers to a 81-68 victory.

The Tigers trailed 41-28 at the half but used suffocating defensive pressure to regain the lead with a 17-2 run to start the second half.

“Clifton, Hobbs, and Braddick did a real good job of matching up with the speed of Coastal,” said Clemson head coach Larry Shyatt.

Coastal Carolina (2-10) responded with a slam from Derrick Robinson to go back up 48-47, but it
would be their last lead of the game.

The Clemson lead grew to double digits on Tony Stockman's bucket with 2:17 left. Clemson finished the game off at the foul line and hit 70% for the game.

Solomon led the Tigers with 21 points and Edward Scott and Tony Stockman were also in double digits with 14 and 12. The Tigers shot a torrid 19-28 for 67.9% in the second half after only shooting 12-32 for 37.5% in the first.

Clemson center Adam Allenspach played only 11 minutes in the first half due to continuing back problems.

Clemson will begin conference play next week as they face Maryland on January 2.
