- Clemson's 16-point victory margin this evening was the largest for the Tigers since a 17-point victory (59-42) over the Pack in 1999-00 season.
Clemson upset a 21st ranked NC State team that night. That was also the last time NC State scored fewer than 54 points against Clemson.
Clemson has now won two in a row over NC State, the first time Clemson has won back to back games from the Wolfpack since winning three in a row between 1999-00 and the first meeting in 2000-01.
If Clemson can win at Duke on Saturday it would give Clemson consecutive wins over teams from the North Carolina Triangle for the first time since Feb. 24-28 when it defeated North Carolina and Duke in consecutive games on the way to winning the ACC regular season championship.
Clemson held NC State front line players J.J. Hickson, Brandon Costner and Ben McCauley to 10 total points tonight. They came into the game averaging 35 points per game. Costner had a season low zero points and Hickson had a season low tying four points.
Terrence Oglesby made 4-8 three-point shots in tonight's game and now has made 10 three-point goals over the last two games. He leads the ACC in made three-point goals per game. Oglesby had struggled at home in terms of three-point shooting until the last two games. He had made just 11-43 at home over the first nine home games. He has now made 10 of 18 over the last two home games.
Oglesby has made 46 three-point goals this year, already the fourth most by a freshman in Clemson history. The record is 75 by Tony Stockman in 2000-01.
Trevor Booker made another three-point goal this evening, his third straight game with a made three-pointer. He did not make a three-point goal in any of his first 50 games at Clemson and has now made at least one in three straight.
Booker was 6-10 from the field tonight and is now 26 for his last 36 from the field over three games.
Clemson had 21 assists and just 10 turnovers tonight. It is the best assist/turnover ratio in a game by the Tigers this year.
Clemson entered he game ranked in the top 15 in the nation in both blocked shots and steals, joining Kansas as the only two teams in the nation in top 20 of both categories. Clemson did nothing to hurt those stats tonight with seven blocks and 13 steals.
Clemson outscored NC State by 30-15 in terms of points off three-point shooting tonight. Over the last nine games against NC State, the Wolfpack had outscored Clemson by an average of 21 points per game on three-point shots.
Clemson had as many steals as fouls this evening, 13 of each.
Cliff Hammonds had three steals tonight to move ahead of Terrell McIntyre into second place on Clemson's career steals list. He now has 195 for his career, one more than McIntyre.
Hammonds needs just five steals to become the first player in Clemson history with at least 1200 points, 400 rebounds, 400 assists and 200 steals. Edward Scott is the only other player with 1200 points, 400 rebounds and 400 assists.
K.C. Rivers needs just eight points at Duke to reach 1000 for his career. He had 11 points tonight and now has 992 points for his career.
