Clemson, SC ? In front of a good crowd at Littlejohn Coliseum, the orange and purple teams from the men?s basketball squad played to a 76-76 tie Saturday during its annual preseason scrimmage. Terrence Oglesby, a freshman from Cleveland, TN, hit two free throws for the purple team with
0.9 seconds left to leave the game at a tie after 40 minutes of play.

Oglesby was fouled on a three-point attempt just prior to the buzzer. He missed the first free throw, but calmly sank the other two. The 6-2 guard finished with a game-high 21 points. He hit 4-of-8 shots from behind the three-point line. For the orange squad, junior K.C. Rivers was the leading scorer with 19 points. He hit 8-of-15 shots, including 3-of-6 from three-point range. Rivers, who also added nine rebounds, hit a deep two-point basket with just over 35 seconds left in the game to give orange the lead Oglesby eventually tied.

The orange team jumped out to a big lead, but purple slowly chipped away throughout the game. One of the key contributions for purple during the comeback was free throw accuracy, as the group hit 14-of-17 for the game from the charity stripe. The play of Raymond Sykes proved to be impressive Saturday, as he turned in a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds (six offensive). He also added four blocked shots. James Mays, also on the purple team, had 18 points and nine rebounds. He hit 4-of-5 free throws.

Trevor Booker and Jerai Grant joined Rivers as double-figure scorers for the ornage team. Booker made six out of 11 field goal attempts and hit all five from the free throw line for a total of 17 points. Grant made
5-of-8 shots and totaled 12 points with seven rebounds. He is a first-year freshman out of Bowie, MD.

Demontez Stitt, a freshman from Matthews, NC, led all players in assists with nine, while Oglesby had four steals to lead both squads in that important statistical category.

Clemson will play an exhibition game against Augusta State on Tuesday, November 6 at 7:30 PM. Admission to the game is free. The team tips off the regular season Monday, November 12 at home versus Furman.
