Clemson-Duke Game To Mark Re-opening of Littlejohn Coliseum

by -

CLEMSON, SC - The Clemson-Duke men's basketball game on Jan. 5 will

mark the re-opening of the renovated Littlejohn Coliseum. The

undefeated Tigers (9-0) will face also-undefeated Duke (8-0) in both

teams' first ACC game of the season. The game is slated to tipoff at

8:00 PM on Sunday.

Littlejohn Coliseum has undergone a $31 million facelift that began

in March 2002. Renovations that have been completed for this season

include expansion of the concourse and concession venues, redesigned

entrances, renovated and new restroom facilities, floor mounted

goalposts and stanchions, a new roof, new sound system, refurbished

scoreboard, renovated locker rooms, officials' dressing rooms and

media facilities, improved sightlines in the Coliseum, and the

installation of 2200 upholstered seats in the endzones and top two

rows of the upper bowl. The facility was also brought into full

compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). In

addition to the renovations at Littlejohn Coliseum, the new Huckabee

Annex houses a regulation practice court, a 3,860 suqare foot weight

room, a 2,240 square foot training room, new men's and women's locker

rooms and glass trophy display cases.

The ticket office at Memorial Stadium will handle all ticket

distribution, including general admission and student ticketing for

the Duke and Morris Brown (1/11) games. General admission will-call

is also located at the ticket office at Gate 9 at Memorial Stadium

(corner of Centennial Blvd. and Avenue of Champions).

Fans arriving at Sunday's game will notice pedestrian pathways

bordered and designated by orange fencing. These pathways will be

well-lighted from the roads (Centennial Blvd., Ravenel Rd., Perimeter

Rd.). All three main entrances (North Gate, East Gate, West Gate)

will be accessible for Sunday's game. Consistent with Clemson

security measures, all bags are subject to search.

Future changes and renovations that will be completed prior to the

2003-04 season include the installation of the permanent floor,

completion of upholstered seating throughout the coliseum, new

way-finding signage and seat numbering, completion of the concessions

in the East bow, TV monitors throughout the concourse and completion

of paving, landscaping and outdoor lighting.

Portions of Littlejohn Coliseum remain under construction, and fans

are asked to please dress accordingly.
