CLEMSON – Clemson head basketball coach Brad Brownell picked up two wins on Saturday – a big ACC win over Wake Forest, followed by the fourth verbal commitment of the 2011 recruiting class.

Guard Devin Coleman (6-3, 195) of Wynnewood, Pennsylvania was on campus for an official visit this weekend, and gave his commitment to Brownell following Clemson’s win over the Demon Deacons.

Coleman had Clemson and Penn St. as his leaders among a group of offers from Temple, Penn, Rice, St. Joes, Marshall and La Salle.

Jason Polykoff, Coleman’s head coach, said Clemson is getting an under-rated player.

“He is an extremely athletic wing-guard with a big wing span,” Polykoff told TigerNet. “Just to give you an idea, we were a smaller team this season and he had to take on a different role. He moved inside and still averaged nine rebounds per game and it didn’t affect his scoring. He still averaged 17 points per game.

“He is known for his slashing ability, but he still has the ability to incorporate his outside game, and he is turning himself into a dangerous outside shooter. Really, offensively, all he has to work on is his ball-handling.”

Polykoff said Coleman won’t have a problem fitting in with Brownell’s defensive style.

“He is a defensive stopper,” Polykoff said. “We always put him on the other team’s best player. He is just really a good, all-around athlete. I’ve known him since he was eight years old and he has just gotten better and better every year.”

Coleman joins 4-star forward Bernard Sullivan of Davidson, NC, shooting guard Daniel Sapp of Oakland Park, Fla. and wing K.J. McDaniels of Birmingham, Ala. on Clemson's 2011 commit list.
