Baseball America Poll

DURHAM, N.C. -- Virginia held steady, taking two of three against No. 5 Florida State to remain at No. 1 in the Baseball America Top 25 rankings for the fourth straight week.

The big climber in this week's rankings is Texas Christian, which moved from No. 7 to No. 4 after going 4-0 last week, including a weekend sweep against Texas Tech. Freshman lefthander Matt Purke announced his presence with authority by striking out eight in his first-career complete game on Saturday.

Louisiana State dropped five spots to No. 7 after dropping a home series to Kansas. Rice was knocked out of the top 10 by going 3-2, including a series split over the weekend against California. The Owls lost the first two games of the series, but came back with a vengeance, winning 26-11 on Saturday.

East Carolina fell seven spots to No. 20 after a 1-3 trip to the West Coast, dropping the Pirates to 8-6 on the year. The Pirates have played one of the toughest schedules in the nation, but they aren't scoring runs at their typical rate. On the season, they have scored 70 runs and have allowed 68.

The staff of Baseball America determines the Top 25 rankings. Records indicated are through games of March 14 and do not include ties.
