TUCSON, Ariz. - Cal. St. Fullerton (38-8) has been ranked
No. 1 in Collegiate Baseball newspaper's NCAA Division I baseball poll for the second straight week. The Titans, which have won 10 in a row and 14 of their last 15 games, are 11-1 in Big West Conference games and have swept seven series this season, including a 3-game set over the past weekend against Cal Poly SLO. Cal. St. Fullerton surpassed its 2002 win total with its latest victory in a 4-3 win over the Mustangs. Poll Notes: Two teams fell out of the top 30 this week in Arkansas (0-4 last week) and North Carolina (2-3). Two new teams in the poll are Lamar (31-12, winners of 12 of its last 15 games) and Alabama (31-13) which swept a 3-game series against Arkansas over the past weekend. One team has been red-hot lately in Arizona St. The Sun Devils have won four in a row as they outscored Washington St. 51-3 over a 3-game series. Besides scoring 21 runs and 25 runs in two of the three games, ASU pitching threw two shutouts. Two other interesting series over the past weekend saw Arizona take two of three at Stanford while Clemson swept a 3-game series at home against Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets, which lost to Georgia early last week, have now lost four straight games. The Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll is the oldest college baseball poll. Its birth took place during the 1957 college baseball season.

DURHAM, N.C.--Cal State Fullerton swept a spate of road games to remain atop Baseball America's Top 25 college baseball rankings for the second consecutive week.
The Titans extended their current winning streak to 10 games with a victory against UCLA and a sweep at Cal Poly, extending their lead over fifth-ranked Long Beach State to two games in the Big West Conference standings. No. 2 Florida State and No. 3 Rice remained in their spots while Nebraska moved into the top five for the first time at No. 4. The Huskers won a series on the road at Texas Tech and are just one game behind sixth-ranked Texas--which they beat in a series last weekend--in the Big 12 standings.
The Atlantic Coast Conference teams in the poll other than Florida State shuffled thanks to some interesting series. North Carolina State moved up to No. 7 after winning two-of-three from rival North Carolina, which fell out of the poll. Georgia Tech tumbled six spots to No. 13 after getting swept by Clemson, which re-entered the rankings at No. 20.
Two clubs made their way back into the poll by beating ranked opponents. Alabama swept Arkansas, knocking the Razorbacks out of the Top 25 and moving the Crimson Tide in at No. 22. Arizona won two of three at Stanford, dropping the Cardinal five spots to ninth while making its way to No. 24 in the rankings.
Baseball America's staff determines the Top 25 rankings, and records (which do not reflect ties) are through games of April 27.
