CLEMSON - Clemson is ranked #16 in Sports Weekly's 2008 preseason baseball poll, released on Friday. The Tigers were 41-23 and made their 21st consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance in 2007, the third-longest streak in NCAA history.

Arizona State is atop the poll with 12 first-place votes, while North Carolina, South Carolina, Rice, and Arizona round out the top five. Two-time defending National Champion Oregon State is ranked #11 in the preseason, as it received four first-place votes. Other ACC teams ranked in Sports Weekly's top-25 poll include #12 Florida State, #14 Miami (FL), and #20 Virginia. Clemson finished the 2007 season ranked in the top 15 in all three major polls.

Clemson was ranked #13 in the Collegiate Baseball preseason poll in December and #23 in the Baseball America preseason poll in January. The Tigers will open their 2008 schedule on February 22 against Mercer at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
