Riley Claims ACC Player of the Week Honors

GREENSBORO, NC - Clemson's Ryan Riley and Duke's Kevin Thompson earn

this week's Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player and Pitcher of

the Week honors, respectively.

Riley, a senior second baseman earns ACC Player of the Week honors

after leading Clemson in a three-game series versus Oregon State and

a two-game series at UNLV. For the week, the Seattle, WA, native

notched 11 hits, nine RBIs and a .524 batting average. He finished

the five-game stretch with 21 at bats as well as contributing seven

runs, three doubles and two home runs. Riley had at least one hit in

all five contests and went 3 for 4 on two occasions and missed

hitting for the cycle in the finale vs. Oregon State by a triple. He

had a single, a double and an inside-the-park home run.

Pitcher of the Week honors are claimed by Duke right-hander Kevin

Thompson. The junior, who hails from Evans, WV, threw eight innings

allowing no runs, just three hits and two walks as the Blue Devils

downed the Cincinnati Bearcats 4-1. Thompson captured the win,

facing 28 batters and striking out eight.

Clemson Remains Ranked Among Top-15

Tigers remain the same in one poll, slip three spots in other two

after winning three of five in Las Vegas.

CLEMSON - Clemson went 3-2 on its trip to Las Vegas last weekend and

remains ranked among the top 15 teams in the nation by all three of

the major college baseball polls.

Clemson remained 14th in the Baseball America poll, but fell from

10th to 13th in both Collegiate Baseball and Baseball Weekly/ESPN.

The Tigers improved to 5-3 on the year after going 2-1 vs. Oregon

State and 1-1 vs. UNLV on the five-game road trip.

Clemson returns home to Doug Kingsmore Stadium this week for a game

on Wednesday against Furman at 3:00 PM. The Tigers will host South

Carolina Saturday at 3:00 PM and then will travel to Columbia on

Sunday for another matchup against the Gamecocks at 1:30 PM at Sarge

Frye Field.
