Major League Baseball Draft Update

CLEMSON, SC -- On Monday, the 2000 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft began

by conference call among the 30 Major League Clubs. The 50-round draft continues on Tuesday

before concluding on Wednesday.

Thru 50 rounds the following Tigers have been selected:

Patrick Boyd RF/CF from Palm Harbor, FL

Round 4 (pick #119) to Pittsburgh

Ryan Mottl RHP from Florissant, MO

Round 6 (pick #183) to Cincinnati

Scott Berney RHP from Hampton, CT

Round 18 (pick #527) to Colorado

Quotes from Ryan Mottl:

"One of my main goals this year was to help get this team to Omaha.

This was an added bonus that I improved my stock in the draft.

Basically I came back and needed a third pitch that I could throw for a strike.

The guys that play behind me made it easy."
