OFFENSIVE BACK

Georgia Tech wide receiver Jonathan Smith (Argyle, Ga.) caught seven passes for 194 yards including a touchdown reception from 65-yards out to help the Yellow Jackets defeat Wake Forest 24-7. The 5-10, 189-pound senior recorded his fourth 100-yard game of the year and set a season high for receiving yards with 194, the third most recorded in the conference this season. Smith leads the ACC and ranks ninth in the nation in receiving yards (103.6 per game) and third in the conference in receptions (5.7 per game).

OFFENSIVE LINE

Georgia Tech’s Hugh Reilly (Roswell, Ga.) was a key contributor on the offensive front in the Yellow Jackets win over Wake Forest. The 6-5, 285-center helped the Tech offense to a season-high 441 yards of total offense, including 216-yards on the ground. It marks the second time this season that the Yellow Jackets have rushed for over 200-yards. Reilly has played a significant role in the first seven games as he has taken every snap at the center position for Georgia Tech, a total of 457 offensive plays.

DEFENSIVE LINE

Clemson junior Leroy Hill (Haddock, Ga.) registered 11 tackles, including four tackles for loss and a sack in the Tigers 30-27 overtime victory over Virginia. The 6-1, 205-pound linebacker was part of a defensive effort that held the Cavaliers to 53 rushing yards. He currently leads the ACC in tackles for loss with 16 (for minus 52 yards) and ranks third with 12.0 tackles per game.

DEFENSIVE BACK

NC State outside linebacker Freddie Aughtry-Lindsay (High Point, N.C.) scored two defensive touchdowns to lead the Wolfpack to a 31-24 win over Connecticut. The 6-1, 224-pound junior scored his first touchdown in the third quarter on a 48-yard fumble return. His second came with five seconds remaining in the game and the scored tied at 24-24. Aughtry-Lindsay intercepted a pass and scampered 56-yards for the game-winning touchdown as time expired. He also accumulated four tackles (two solo) and a pass breakup against the Huskies.

SPECIALIST

Maryland place kicker Nick Novak (Charlottesville, Va.) connected on four field goals and two PAT’s for a total of 14 points in the Terrapins 33-20 win over the Duke Blue Devils. The 6-0, 189-pound junior kicked a 54-yard field goal in the first quarter to tie the all-time Maryland record. His 54-yarder marks the longest kick this season in the ACC. It was the second time this season that Novak has kicked four field goals in a game.

ROOKIE

Georgia Tech’s Reggie Ball (Stone Mountain, Ga.) passed for 225 yards and two touchdowns as the Yellow Jackets defeated the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 24-7. The 5-11, 192-pound quarterback completed 12-of-24 passes with no interceptions along with eight rushes for 22-yards. Ball rushed for two key third-down plays in the fourth quarter to keep the Yellow Jacket offense on the field.
