Clemson, SC -

South Carolina Lieutenant Governor André Bauer will present Clemson Head Baseball Coach Jack Leggett the Palmetto Patriot Award during halftime of the Clemson vs. Miami (FL) basketball game in Littlejohn Coliseum on Saturday night.

The Palmetto Patriot Program was established by Bauer and recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to their fellow citizens and the state of South Carolina. The Palmetto Patriot Award is given for one's commitment to public service within their state and community. The award is the highest the Lieutenant Governor can bestow.

“Coach Leggett is legendary in NCAA baseball history and certainly in the state of South Carolina,” said Bauer. “His accomplishments off of the field are just as remarkable. He is a man who all South Carolinians should be proud to call one of our own.”

Leggett has totaled 769 wins in 17 seasons (1994-10) as head coach at Clemson. The 769 wins are seventh-most in the nation during that span. He has directed Clemson to 16 NCAA Tournament appearances and six trips to the College World Series. Leggett has also amassed 1,146 career wins in 31 seasons as a head coach.
