GREENSBORO, N.C. - Clemson's Khalil Greene claimed the 2002 Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year, while Florida State's Stephen Drew was tabbed ACC Rookie of the Year and Wake Forest's George Greer was selected as the ACC Coach of the Year as voted on by the league's nine head coaches.


Clemson's Khalil Greene, the ACC leader in batting average (.475), hits (115), runs scored (79), home runs (22), total bases (208), on base percentage (.554) and slugging percentage (.860) was selected as the league's Player of the Year. The senior shortstop is a finalist for the 2002 Golden Spikes Award and the Rotary Smith Award. He was also tabbed First Team All-ACC, for the third-straight year, and was selected to the ACC All-Tournament team. The Key West, Fla., native is Clemson's 11th ACC Player of the Year selection and first since Kris Benson in 1996.


Florida State's Stephen Drew was this year's pick for ACC Rookie of the Year. The Hahira, Ga., freshman was sixth in the ACC in batting average and led the Seminoles with a .383 average. He was also selected as the 2002 ACC Tournament Most Valuable Player and was named second-team All-ACC. Drew is the second Seminole to be named ACC Rookie of the Year and the first since Jonathan Johnson in 1993.


Wake Forest head coach George Greer was named ACC Coach of the Year for the first time in his career. Greer, in his 15th year at the helm of the Demon Deacon program has led Wake Forest to a 44-11-1 mark heading into this weekend's NCAA Baseball Tournament. Greer has also led Wake Forest to the ACC Title in 1998, 1999 and 2001. This season marks the fifth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance for George Greer and the Demon Deacons.
