Clemson vs South Carolina Baseball Game Is Officially A Sellout

CLEMSON, SC -- The Clemson vs. South Carolina baseball game on Wednesday (7:15 PM) at Doug Kingsmore Stadium is officially a sellout, Clemson officials announced Monday.

The game features two of the nation's top collegiate baseball programs. The Tigers, winners of four of five games last week, are ranked as high as sixth with a 28-7 record while the Gamecocks are ranked as high as second. South Carolina won four one-run games last week to improve to 32-4. Clemson will host Georgia Tuesday night at 7:15 PM. Tickets are available for Tuesday's game.

A limited number of tickets for the Clemson vs. South Carolina game are available for Clemson faculty, students and staff. They may show their Tiger One ID card at the gate on Wednesday to gain admission to the game on a first-come, first-served basis.

Clemson Jumps to #6 in Two Polls

After going 4-1 last week, Clemson jumped two spots in both the Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball polls this week. Clemson is #6 according to Collegiate Baseball and USA Today Baseball Weekly, and #7 by Baseball America. Florida State is the unanimous #1 selection by all three polls. Clemson's opponent on Wednesday, South Carolina (32-4), is as high as #2. Five of the top 14 teams ranked by Collegiate Baseball are from the ACC.

MOTTL NAMED ACC PITCHER-OF-THE-WEEK
Senior righthander allowed one hit and no runs in 7.0 innings against N.C. State Saturday

Clemson, SC -- Entering his start against N.C. State on April 8, Ryan Mottl was 0-1 with a 12.33 ERA in three previous starts against the Wolfpack in his career. But Mottl responded with 7.0 shutout innings, allowing just one hit to earn the win. He also allowed three walks while striking out six to earn ACC Pitcher-of-the-Week honors. Mottl is 6-2 with a 2.26 ERA this season in 10 starts. He is scheduled to pitch next on Friday against Wake Forest.

Berney, Schmidt, Mottl are 1-2-3 in ERA in the league.

Clemson, SC -- Clemson's 2.71 team ERA is tops in the ACC as of April 10. Also, Scott Berney, Ryan Mottl, and Jarrod Schmidt are 1-2-3 in ERA in the league. Berney has a 1.46 ERA, Schmidt a 1.93 ERA, and Mottl a 2.26 ERA. Nick Glaser's nine saves is also tops in the ACC. Clemson's ERA in 1999 was 5.82.
