WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- The Wake Forest baseball team saw its record drop to 18-7, 6-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, after falling to 10th-ranked Clemson, 9-1 on Sunday afternoon at Hooks Stadium. With the loss, Clemson captures the series two games to one. Freshman Kyle Sleeth took the loss for the Demon Deacons after allowing five runs in 3.1 innings.

Wake Forest pitchers had allowed just six home runs in the first 24 games but four Clemson batters went deep for the Tigers on Sunday. Michael Johnson and Ryan Riley hit back-to-back homers in the fourth to give the Clemson a 5-0 lead.

Khalil Greene and Jeff Baker tacked on insurance runs via the long ball. It was Greene's second home runs of the year and the eighth for Baker.

It was more than enough for Tiger starter Matt Henrie who pitched eight strong innings and yielded just one run on six hits. He struck out five and surrendered just one extra base hit all day. Henrie earned the win to improve to 2-0 on the season. Thomas Boozer pitched the final three outs.

Wake Forest tied a season-low with just six hits. Sophomore Nick Blue collected two of those hits including a double, Wake Forest's lone extra base hit.

"Give all the credit to Clemson. Matt Henrie was excellent all day long. He pitched a great game and they got key hits at key times throughout the game," head coach George Greer said.

The Tigers will return home to face Wofford on Tuesday, March 27. Game time is set for 7:15 PM ET and will be broadcast on WCSZ-AM (1070) in Greenville and on WGOG-FM (96.3) in Walhalla. On Wednesday, the Tigers
travel to Athens to take on the Georgia Bulldogs.
