Clemson, SC- Clemson rebounded from a loss at Western Carolina to post a 7-3 victory over Georgia on Wednesday night in front of 4,522 fans at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. The win improved the Tigers to 18-4 on the season, while dropping the Bulldogs to 11-11 overall. Head Coach Jack Leggett is now 9-0 against the Bulldogs at home as the Tigers' skipper.

Steven Jackson (2-1) earned the win after pitching seven strong innings, which tied a career high for the righthander from Summerville, SC. He gave up only one run off of two hits, while striking out five. Paul Lubrano (2-3) was credited with the loss for the Bulldogs.

The Tigers were led offensively by Brad McCann and Kyle Frank, who had three hits apiece. McCann now has 24 RBIs in his last 13 games, while Frank has 20 on the season.

Clemson broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning after McCann hit his 10th double of the year to bring home Russell Triplett. McCann slapped a 1-2 pitch into left center off of Bulldog starter Lubrano. McCann scored the second run of the inning on a single by Frank.

The Tigers added onto their lead in the sixth. Michael Johnson led off the inning with his 23rd walk of the year. McCann followed up with a single through the right side. Jeff Hourigan then moved both runners over with a sacrifice bunt. After Frank was intentionally walked, left fielder Ryan Hub laid down a squeeze bunt that was bobbled by first baseman Justin McClain. Johnson and McCann scored to make the lead 4-0.

Georgia got on the board in the seventh inning after Josh Smith knocked a double to left center off of Jackson, scoring McClain. Smith had the only two hits off of Jackson the entire night.

The Tigers finished off the Bulldogs with three runs over the final two innings.

Clemson will take to the road this weekend in a series at North Carolina State for their first conference action of the season. The games will be played at Kinston, NC due to current renovations to Doak Field in Raleigh. Friday's first pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM. All three games can be heard on Clemson Tiger Sports Properties.
